About Brevitax
Tax resolution should not begin with a sales pitch.
Brevitax helps taxpayers and accountants see what IRS records actually show, understand the available options, complete the required work, and verify what changed.
Taxpayers can do more themselves. Accountants can add tax resolution without sending longtime clients into an unfamiliar, high-cost tax-relief company. Professional representation remains available when the situation genuinely requires it.
For too long, taxpayers have faced two bad choices: deal with the IRS alone or sign an expensive representation agreement before they fully understand the problem. Meanwhile, the accountants who already know them have lacked the specialized tools to help. Brevitax creates a better path.

Who we are
Brevitax is a post-filing tax-account platform for taxpayers and accounting firms.
It reconstructs IRS account activity from transcripts, explains what happened across tax years, identifies what still requires attention, evaluates potential resolution paths, organizes the required work, and returns to the IRS record to verify the result.
Brevitax is not built around selling every taxpayer full representation. It is built around helping each person use the right level of support.
Some taxpayers can complete appropriate work themselves. Others want help from the accountant who already understands their returns, finances, or business. More complex matters may justify a licensed representative.
Brevitax supports all three paths from the same organized account record.
Why we built it
The traditional tax-relief process often begins backward.
A taxpayer receives an IRS notice, sees a balance they cannot explain, or fears that collection action may be coming. Before anyone reconstructs the account, the taxpayer is asked to speak with a salesperson and commit thousands of dollars toward representation.
The facts come later.
At the same time, many capable accountants refer this work away. They already know the taxpayer and understand the underlying financial history, but ordinary accounting software stops at tax preparation. It does not reconstruct IRS accounts, compare resolution paths, prepare the required workflow, or verify what the IRS ultimately did.
That infrastructure gap helped create an industry in which specialized tax-relief companies own the client relationship—even when the taxpayer could have handled more independently or remained with an accountant they already trusted.
Brevitax was built to change that structure.
We give taxpayers access to the evidence and a credible do-it-yourself path. We give accounting firms the infrastructure to add tax resolution responsibly. When specialized judgment or representation is necessary, the case is already organized and ready for professional review.
We are not building a less expensive version of the traditional tax-relief company. We are changing where tax resolution begins, who can provide it, and how much taxpayers can understand and accomplish for themselves.
How Brevitax changes the process
Start with the IRS record
Brevitax organizes IRS transcripts across tax years and turns transaction codes, assessments, payments, penalties, interest, filings, and collection activity into a coherent account history.
Understand the available paths
Brevitax combines the IRS record with financial and household information to show which resolution options may fit, what each option requires, and which facts could change the analysis.
Taxpayers receive clear options and an action plan. Professionals receive a detailed Tax Resolution Strategy with the underlying evidence and assumptions.
Prepare the work
The selected path becomes a guided workflow of documents, financial information, IRS forms, signatures, submission steps, deadlines, and follow-up.
Taxpayers can complete appropriate work themselves or bring the organized case to a professional. Accounting firms receive the additional controls, approvals, client management, and documentation needed to provide the service.
Verify the result
Sending paperwork does not prove that anything changed.
Brevitax returns to updated IRS records, compares the account with what was requested, and shows what changed, what was completed, and what may still require attention.
What we believe
- People should see the IRS evidence before deciding whether to hire anyone.
- Taxpayers should be able to do more for themselves when the situation allows it.
- Accountants should have the tools to keep serving clients who already trust them.
- Help should match the problem—not automatically begin with full representation.
- Software should prepare and organize the work while people retain control of consequential decisions.
- Tax-resolution work is not complete until the result can be verified against the IRS record.
Built on evidence, not AI guesses
Brevitax does not ask a chatbot to invent an explanation for an IRS account.
Deterministic tax engines parse source records, reconcile account activity, perform calculations, and apply defined tax-resolution rules. Governed AI helps extract information, prepare explanations, and draft structured work products. Taxpayers and licensed practitioners remain responsible for consequential decisions.
Every important conclusion connects to the facts that produced it. Every material action remains part of the case record. Every claimed result can be checked against updated IRS evidence.
Deterministic tax intelligence. AI-prepared work. Human-controlled decisions. Verified against the IRS record.
Start with what the IRS actually says.
Understand the account first. Then decide whether to handle the work yourself, involve the accountant you already trust, or engage a licensed professional.

Founder
Joseph Lancaster founded Brevitax after nearly a decade and a half inside the tax-resolution industry and twenty years building software and systems.
He saw taxpayers commit thousands of dollars before receiving a complete explanation of their IRS account. He also saw capable accountants refer longtime clients away—not because they lacked tax knowledge or client trust, but because they lacked the specialized infrastructure needed to perform resolution work consistently.
Brevitax was built to close that gap.
Its purpose is to help more taxpayers understand and complete appropriate work themselves, help more accountants provide tax resolution to the clients who already trust them, and make specialized representation available when it is genuinely needed.
